State budget

The government agreed on the Finnish state budget this week. State spending will be higher than revenue next year.

The state will give more money to Finnish defense and Ukraine. The government will cut support from organizations and municipalities. Low- and middle-income people will pay less tax on their salaries than before. Companies will have to pay less tax on their profits than now.

The opposition criticizes the budget. The opposition says the government is giving money to companies and cutting back on organizations.

Party support survey

The Social Democratic Party is number one in the party support survey, with 24.7, the National Coalition Party is number two with 19.1 and the Center Party is number three with 15.1 percent.

A new party support survey was published this week.

A Yle poll shows that the most popular party is still the SDP. The SDP’s support has decreased slightly. The SDP is an opposition party.

The second most popular party is the National Coalition Party and the third most popular is the Finns Party. They are the governing parties. The support for the National Coalition Party is the same as before. The support for the Finns Party has increased slightly.

The Left Alliance has seen the biggest increase in support. The Left Alliance is the fifth most popular party. The Left Alliance is not in the government.

Drone in Porvoo

A drone was found in Finland this week. The drone was found on Tuesday in Pellingi, Porvoo.

Authorities say the drone was made in Russia. There were no explosives on board. Therefore, it posed no danger to humans.

Authorities are investigating how the drone came to Finland and who used it.

Russia told Finland even before the discovery that a mapping drone had disappeared from Russia. It is a drone used to photograph and measure an area. It is not yet known for sure whether this is the same device that was found in Porvoo.

Finnish Public Broadcasting 100 years

Yle is celebrating its 100th anniversary this autumn. Yle was celebrated on Saturday at the Helsinki Arena. Performers included Hector, Jenni Vartiainen and Mirella.

Yle CEO Marit af Björkesten says that due to savings, Yle has less money than before. The CEO believes that Yle is still doing well.

Yleisradio’s first broadcast was heard on September 9, 1926. Managing Director Leonard Maurits Viherjuuri gave a speech on the radio at that time.
