Finns want a new government, but no option is clearly the most popular.

The answers are divided into many different options.

Women want a more left-wing government.

Men want a more right-wing government.

Reducing evictions

Now the news about the evictions.

The Enforcement Service is experimenting with a new way to reduce evictions.

The experiment has reduced evictions in Jyväskylä, Vantaa and Lahti.

In other large cities, evictions have increased in the early part of the year.

Ville Kupiainen was evicted from his rental apartment 7 years ago.

He didn’t pay rent and disturbed other residents.

Kupiainen says that he didn’t know how to manage things at the time. The money went to drugs.

The Enforcement Service is trying out a new way to prevent evictions.

Young people are offered help before their rent debt becomes large.

Evictions have decreased in the pilot cities.

State Counselor Veikko Minkkinen says that the experiment looks good.

“It’s encouraging that in the cities where this is being piloted, the number of evictions has started to decline. And in other [cities] it seems to be still increasing.”

The experiment will continue until the end of the year.

Letters of Helene Schjerfbeck

Finally, cultural news.

Helene Schjerfbeck was a famous Finnish artist.

He also painted many self-portraits.

Schjerfbeck also wrote many letters.

Antti Calonius’s father and grandfather were friends of Schjerfbeck.

Schjerfbeck wrote them almost 70 letters.

Calonius has now published the letters in a new book.

Schjerfbeck wrote about loneliness, illness, and selling art.

The family also has one painting that reveals a secret.

The painting was done by Alfred Conquest, who was Schjerfbeck’s fiancé.

Schjerfbeck died 80 years ago.
