European Athletics Championships medals

First, sports.

Finland won a total of 3 medals at the European Athletics Championships.

The third medal came yesterday, Sunday, when Alisa Vainio won gold in the marathon.

Vainio led the race from start to finish. He also ran a new race record.

Silja Kosonen also won the gold medal. She is the new European champion in the hammer throw

Wilma Heltelä again won silver in the pole vault.

Finland won 3 medals at the European Athletics Championships.

The competition ended yesterday in Birmingham, UK.

Moped rally

Then we’ll talk about the moped riders’ protest.

Moped enthusiasts demonstrated in Helsinki over the weekend.

Hundreds of moped riders gathered at Kansalaistori on Saturday. Motorcyclists were also present.

The protest was sparked by police action in Tuusula a week ago. The police chased a young moped rider and drove him into a ditch with their car.

African swine fever

Then news about the fight against African swine fever.

Conscripts can provide assistance in combating African swine fever.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has agreed on the matter with the Finnish Defence Forces, i.e. the Finnish Army.

Conscripts can help in the fight against African swine fever. However, no request for help has yet been made.

African swine fever has been found in wild boars in southeastern Finland near the eastern border.
