NATO air war exercise. Tightening of social assistance. Arvi Lind. Weather.
NATO is training
First, we will talk about the NATO exercise.
A NATO air exercise has begun in Finland today. 18 NATO countries are participating in the exercise.
More than 50 aircraft and approximately 1,300 soldiers will arrive in Finland from other NATO countries. There will be aircraft from, for example, the USA, Germany, Spain and Poland.
NATO’s large air war exercise has begun today.
The exercise can be seen and heard in different parts of Finland until Midsummer Eve.
In Tervo, North Savo, the exercise also causes disruption to traffic.
Social assistance
Then there is the issue of tightening social assistance.
The tightening of social assistance has brought many new clients to employment services.
The conditions for social assistance were tightened in February. The basic part of the assistance can now be halved if the recipient does not register as a job seeker.
During the first three months, more than 30,000 social assistance recipients were urged to register for job search.
Employment services are now overwhelmed.
Employment expert Maria Saksholm says that many new clients are difficult to help.
For example, many lack education, do not speak Finnish, or have an illness or disability that makes them unable to work.
So finding a job is difficult.

He retired in 2003. Arvi Lind’s last news broadcast was watched by approximately 1.5 million people.
