Foreign policy report. Combating drones. Tightening immigration. Weather.

Foreign policy report

First, security policy.

The government has updated its foreign policy report due to changes in world politics.

The report says that it is increasingly difficult to predict the US’s policy. Therefore, the NATO defense alliance must be developed more in a European direction.

However, the government estimates that the US intends to remain in NATO. The government estimates this even though President Donald Trump has spoken about withdrawing from NATO.

Trump has threatened to take over Greenland, which belongs to NATO member Denmark. Trump has also reduced support for Ukraine.

The government has updated its foreign policy report. Finland also emphasizes the importance of the EU in security and defense.

Drone control

Then about defending Finland.

Many Army reservists are now training to counter drones with shotguns.

Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine has also been visible in Finland. Drones have come to Finland from Ukraine, but they have not caused any damage.

The defense forces say that a shotgun is an effective way to combat small drones. Drones have a lot of small electronic components. When a drone is shot, it can lose control.

However, drones cannot be shot down by just anyone without permission.

Reservists are training to combat drones for war situations.

Tightening immigration

Finally, about immigration.

The government wants to tighten immigration. Minister of the Interior Mari Rantanen presented the proposal.

The proposal will make the deportation of immigrants more efficient. In addition, the asylum process can be transferred to a country outside the EU.

One of the government’s stricter immigration measures is the citizenship test.

An immigrant can only obtain Finnish citizenship if they pass a test. The test must be taken in Finnish or Swedish.

The exam tests how well the immigrant knows the functioning of Finnish society and its principles.

Weather

Still a weather forecast.

The weather is cloudy.

The sun is shining in most parts of the country. It will be cloudier in the east and in places in the north.

The temperature is +5…+15 degrees, warmest in the west.
