Drones. Charity. Contemporary Sámi art. Weather.

Drones

First, news about drones.

The police are investigating the crash of drones in southeastern Finland.

2 drones fell in Finland yesterday, one in Kouvola and the other in Luumäki.

No one was injured when the drones fell.

At least one of the drones is Ukrainian.

Finnish authorities believe that the drones entered Finnish territory by accident when Ukraine attacked Russia.

Former Defense Forces Research Director Jyri Kosola estimates that one of the drones also exploded, as a loud bang was heard in Luumäki.

Charity

Then we’ll talk about charity.

In Finland, money is donated to charity less frequently than in other Nordic countries.

A new study shows that about half of Finns donate money sometimes or regularly.

In Sweden, Norway and Denmark, 70 percent of the population donates.

Finns donate the most money to domestic aid organizations.

Contemporary Sámi art

Then culture.

A rare exhibition has opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kiasma. It features contemporary Sámi art.

It includes works by 20 Sámi artists from Finland, Sweden and Norway.

The Formerly Alone exhibition tells the story of the past, present and future of indigenous people.

Outi Pieski’s installations are based on the Sámi craft tradition.

The photographic work Lada Suomenrinne is a tribute to Sámi activists.

In Siri Baggerman’s work, a Sámi man flies a drone.

The exhibition’s curator, Petra Laiti, says that contemporary Sámi art is vibrant and vital. There is no shortage of artists and quality.

Tuesday weather

Tomorrow it will rain, sleet or snow in the eastern part of the country.
