First, news from abroad.

The war in the Middle East continues.

Israel continues attacks on Iran. Israel also strikes Lebanon. In Lebanon, Israel strikes against the extremist organization Hezbollah.

Shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has almost stopped because Iran is attacking ships. A lot of oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz to the world.

The war in the Middle East continues. The US and Israel launched attacks on Iran at the end of February. The war has since spread to many other countries in the Middle East.

Summer jobs

The next topic is summer work.

People are looking for a lot of summer jobs now.

For example, 20,000 people have applied for summer jobs at Hesburger. Last year, there were 9,000 applicants. Hesburger hires about 1,000 people for summer jobs.

Students often want to work for the summer. Now, people with higher education are also looking for summer jobs. The reason is that there are a lot of unemployed people.

People are now applying for summer jobs a lot. Many companies have fewer summer jobs than before.

Eero Nelimarkka

Finally, culture.

The Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki has paintings by Eero Nelimarkka on display. Eero Nelimarkka was a Finnish painter who was born in 1891 in Vaasa. He painted many landscapes from Southern Ostrobothnia. Eero Nelimarkka’s paintings feature grain fields and barns.

Eero Nelimarkka painted much more than landscapes. Curator Riitta Ojanperä from the Ateneum Art Museum:

-In terms of the diversity of the subjects, the image of a landscape and barn painter is perhaps emphasized too much.

The Ateneum Art Museum is exhibiting paintings by Eero Nelimarkka. The exhibition is open until September.

Weather
