Middle East

First, news from the Middle East.

Iran has carried out retaliatory attacks on Israel and the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf.

The US and Israel have continued to attack Iran. The countries want Iran’s leaders to change.

Mortgages

The topic of the next news is a mortgage.

There will be a change in the law regarding mortgage loans. In the future, a mortgage loan can be repaid over up to 35 years. Currently, the longest repayment period for a mortgage loan is 30 years.

The goal of the change is for people to spend more money on various purchases. Money will be left over for consumption if the monthly mortgage payment is lower than it is now.

An expert from the Bank of Finland says that the change is a bad thing. The long repayment period for a mortgage increases people’s debts.

In the future, a mortgage can be repaid over up to 35 years. The law will come into effect at the beginning of April.

Drugs

Now the news about drugs.

Many young people in Finland die from drugs. In 2023, almost 100 people under the age of 25 died from drugs in Finland.

Drug deaths can often be prevented with a drug called naloxone. The drug is used to treat drug overdoses, for example in the USA.

The drug is only used a little in Finland because the law is unclear.

Doctor Tuuli Kormano hopes the state will change the law:

- Young people are dying all the time, so it’s an urgent matter. The law needs to be changed so that naloxone can be distributed anonymously.

Weather

It will rain in the west tomorrow, Wednesday. The temperature will vary between +2 and +6 degrees. It will be a little frosty in the north.
