Autumn art exhibitions

An exhibition will open at the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki, featuring paintings by the Viennese Gustav Klimt, among others.
Klimt was an important art reformer at the beginning of the 20th century. Klimt’s paintings are now in Finland for the first time.
Ateneum also organizes guided tours in plain language.
The Amos Rex Museum in Helsinki is hosting an exhibition by the well-known Argentine contemporary artist Leandro Erlich.
Ars Nova in Turku is holding an exhibition by Matti Rag Paananen. Paananen was a composer, poet and painter from Turku.
Premieres at the theater

There are hundreds of large and small theaters in Finland, which means there are also a large number of new performances.
Many of the autumn performances feature a woman’s perspective. The Rovaniemi Theatre’s performance tells the story of the mother of artist Reidar Särestöniemi. This is the anniversary year of the Lappish painter Reidar Särestöniemi, as he was born 100 years ago.
A play about Queen Christina of Sweden is being performed at the Helsinki City Theatre. The themes of the play are power, gender and love.
An interpretation of the classic Romeo and Juliet will be performed at the Ã…bo Svenska Teatern in Turku and the Tampere Theatre.
New domestic films

There will be many new Finnish films in cinemas this autumn.
The Perfect Strangers, directed by Riku Jokela, will be released in September. The film is about friends played by Laura Birn, Hannu-Pekka Björkman and Pirjo Lonka, among others.
Let Me Love You More is a film starring pop singer Rita Behm. The film is based on the book by Juha Itkonen. It premieres in October.
The popular action film Sisu is getting a sequel in October. Sisu 2 is also showing in cinemas in the USA.
