A serious plane crash occurred in the USA on Wednesday.

The accident killed 67 people. The last similarly bad plane crash in the US was over 20 years ago.

A passenger plane and a military helicopter collided in the US capital, Washington.

The accident occurred on Wednesday evening US time near Ronald Reagan Airport.

The plane came from the city of Wichita, Kansas.

There were 64 people on the plane. There were 3 people on the helicopter. All died.

After the collision, the plane and helicopter fell into the Potomac River in Washington.

No Finns on board

In the US plane crash, there were a lot of figure skaters on board. They were coming from a figure skating camp.

Also on the plane were two famous Russian figure skaters, Evgenia Siskova and Vadim Naumov.

They won the World Figure Skating Championship in 1994. Today they are figure skating coaches.

There were no Finns on the plane, says the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Trump accused

US President Donald Trump spoke about the plane crash on television.

He held a moment of silence in memory of the victims.

Trump blamed the accident on air traffic controllers.

Trump also said that the accident was the fault of former US presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

Trump said that bad air traffic controllers were hired under Biden and Obama.

The airport is being investigated
