This week there was a lot of talk about nature conservation. About a week ago, it was revealed that a lot of rascals died in Kainuu. The raakus died when the forest company Stora Enso’s forest machine ran over the raakus in Suomussalmi’s Hukkajoki. Raakku is a sedated animal, because there are only few raakku in nature.

Once the animal is tranquilized, it must not be killed or harmed. The law says that killing a tranquilized animal is a crime. The sedated plant must not be removed from the ground or damaged.
