The Institute of Health and Welfare recommends that people over 80 be vaccinated first. In addition, for example, all elderly people who live in nursing homes or receive regular home care are vaccinated.

Corona vaccinations therefore start with old and weak people. For them, Corona is often a serious illness. With the help of vaccinations, hospitalization and even deaths can be reduced in the elderly.

Other risk groups can be vaccinated later in the fall. Other risk groups include people with, for example, heart disease or lung disease. They often receive the corona vaccination at the same time as the flu vaccination. This also applies to everyone over the age of 65.

Last year, corona vaccinations were delayed

A year ago, all risk groups only received the corona vaccination in late autumn at the same time as the flu vaccination. Many managed to get corona infected before they got vaccinated.

That is why corona vaccinations are given to old and weak people earlier this year. In the opinion of the welfare regions, it is a good decision. Organizing vaccinations requires a lot of work, but on the other hand, vaccinations reduce the number of patients in hospitals.

No additional vaccinations for healthy people of working age

The Department of Health and Welfare says that healthy working-age people do not need additional vaccinations against corona.

If a healthy adult gets a corona infection, the illness is usually mild. However, the sick person must stay at home so that he does not infect others.

Everyone can prevent the spread of the corona with the good old way, i.e. washing hands often.
