More people have come to the border between Finland and Russia, whose papers are not in order. For example, they do not have a visa to Finland.

On Monday, more than 20 people have come to the border without the necessary papers. During the fall, more than 100 of them have already arrived.

Among them are, for example, citizens of Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Somalia. They have come through Russia to the Finnish border, where they have applied for asylum in Finland.

Previously, Russia did not let anyone to the Finnish border without the necessary papers. It is not certain why Russia’s actions have changed.

Experts estimate that the reason is that Finland has become a member of the defense alliance NATO. Russia considers NATO to be its enemy.
