The number of corona cases is increasing. The coronavirus is now increasing throughout Finland.

There are about 10 corona patients in intensive care. In addition, the hospitals have approximately 450 bed patients with corona infection.

The corona situation will probably get worse as the winter progresses. The aim is to secure the operation of hospitals with the help of corona vaccinations.

Corona vaccinations start in November in different parts of Finland. Corona vaccinations are given at the same time as influenza vaccinations.

Use of alcohol

Finns drink less alcohol than before. This is what the Institute of Health and Welfare says.

Less than 50 percent of men drink alcohol every week. Only less than 20 percent of women drink alcohol every week.

The numbers are lower than in 2016, when the previous survey was conducted.

The winter season of tourism in Lapland begins. Winter flights from abroad to Lapland’s airports started at the weekend.

The winter season will even be record busy. Tourists come to Lapland especially from big European countries, i.e. Britain, France, Spain and Germany. In addition, many tourists come from Asia’s Singapore.

The winter season intensifies especially in December. Then, for example, up to 130 flights per week land in Rovaniemi.

Tourists are especially interested in the snowy winter. October has now been snowy in Lapland, and that has increased interest in Lapland.

The bears of Korkeasaari Zoo have gone into hibernation. The bears slept soundly this fall already at the end of October.

In recent years, bears have usually gone into hibernation a little later, in early November.

Before hibernation, the bears have eaten a lot. A thick layer of fat protects the bears during their long winter sleep.

Korkeasaari’s bears usually wake up from hibernation in February. In the nature of northern Finland, bears can hibernate for up to six months.

Weather

On Tuesday, it will rain in many places in the southern and central parts of the country, with rain or snow, possibly also freezing rain. In the north, it is powdery.

The temperature on Tuesday will be between 0 and +7 degrees in the south, between -1 and -9 degrees elsewhere.

Due to snowfall and freezing rain, driving weather is bad in parts of Finland. Driving weather is bad, especially in the central parts of the country.

In the middle of the week, the weather is cool, but on the weekend, at least in the south, there are a few plus degrees.
